Carmex
Carmex Lip Balm is the most famous lip balm in the world. It is used to prevent dryness and chapping of lips from frost and sun, as well as a remedy for cuts, cracks, peeling, insect bites and even to treat colds. Well-groomed and delicate lips are every girl’s dream! But without special care, the skin of the lips quickly dries out and cracks. The history of Carmex® lip balms begins in the 1930s.
The brand appeared with the light hand of founder Alfred Woelbing, who, when deciding to create his own production of cosmetics for the fair sex, already had experience in the chemical industry. Although it is very difficult to call “production” what was at first. The fact is that the first product sample was created by Voelbing... in the kitchen. Having an idea of what kind of body care products American girls need, the chemist creates a small batch of lip balm, pours it into yellow jars and goes in search of companies that would want to cooperate with him. Alfred decided to start his path to the success of the Carmex brand with pharmacies. He just went to any such establishment and, if the pharmacists were interested in his cosmetics, he left them a dozen samples, which the first owners received completely free of charge. Soon, when the chemist was bombarded with rave reviews and the first large orders began to arrive, he launched mass production of oral care products.
Today, this brand tops the rankings of companies involved in the production of lip care products in more than 70 countries around the world, including Ukraine. Let's look at what caused this popularity?
Even at the stage of creating the first sample, Voelbing set a goal: to create a balm that every girl could buy, regardless of her financial situation. To do this, he decided to use cheap components that were no different in quality from their more expensive counterparts. So it was decided to use lanolin as the main component, which softens the skin and prevents chapping.
